I am a 21 year army wife who moved to Fort Sam while my hubby was in training. I can say that I love living here in San Antonio. I grew up in TX so I am used to the weather and it's really not that bad. We chose to live off base since I was new to this. We live in the NE area which I love. It is nice everywhere. There is so much shopping it's rediculous anything and everything is within 5 min. There is also Sea World, Six Flags, and a Zoo all withing 20 min from our apartment. The waiting list for on post housing was somewhat long, but the housing on base look nice. If you are looking for daycare, lets just say I have been on the waiting list for 6 mo. and nothing yet. If you are wanting to work there are plenty of jobs available you just have to look for them. On base is nice. There is a nice Comm. and the PX has lots incluing a gamestop and coach store. There is also a few of kiosks around the px. Fort Sam has parks, equine center, pools, bowling and more. The people that work on base are all very polite. Overall I would definately recommend anyone to live on this base. Everything is better in Texas.
