OK....WOW! now I am afraid to move to Ft. Campbell...is it really that bad? or can it be good? lemme tell you bout' Fort Riley. Junction City isnt that bad. there are sections to avoid, but they are well hidden. If you get off post housing...milford lake area is best, but juction city does have some nice trailer parks on Grant Ave (police department 5 min away). and they bus your kids to post. Your best job bets are in Manhatten about 20 mins or on post at the shoppettes or commisary. Ware elementary is an excellent school. The commisary is ok...they have alot of sales. and the PX isnt too extremily expensive,(like Quantico VA) that place is horribly expensive. Housing is pretty nice. The only section I dont like is the oldest part, by the 24 hour shopette...ugly. MPs are really excellent and a great supply of them...just DONT get caught speeding. which is a good thing...because most of us have kids. lots of family support...but like everywhere...you have to reach out to them. The hospitol....has some pretty excellent doctors and staff. BUT, word of advise...the ER...if you ever have second thoughts...demand better care...if your here in the next year...the best pediatrician there presently is Dr. Casson...awesome Doc!! not sure when she is leaving but she has done my daughters specialty care for 3 years now...and she knows her stuff!I think she told me she will be there a year after I leave.
Ft Riley is beautifully kept and I feel very safe here...the youth center is pretty great! if you need more info...please email me.
Now...hubby is in korea til july 2003....return assignment is fort campbell...someone please email me from there and give me some info please...about waiting lists...schools...security...housing...px...commisary...this would be of GREAT help.
